I don't think the tapes are untouched - they're simply better than before. In the episode you mentioned ("The Menagerie"), at least the following two scenes were missing: - Landing party dresses up before beaming down to Talos IV. This is where we see two technicians operating the transporter. The first time we see them, the one at the back is wearing eyglasses, which he has taken off the second time he appears. - No.1 tells Vina that there actually was a crewman with that name in the lost ship and, according to her records she must be n years (i.e. very) old. However, we *did* see the entire dialogue scene between Pike and the ship's doctor, as well as No. 1's attempt to blast the cave entrance with a huge laser (which brings up the question: if in Pike's time they were using lasers, when did phasers come to being? what does "phaser" stand for?) Anyway, I believe that *this* butchered version is better than the original one :-) -- Kriton (princeton!tilt!kyrimis) ------ "It is... um... somewhat... uncomplimentary, Captain; Herbert was a minor official notorious for his rigid and limited patterns of thought." ------
