Summary: 

Adobe Systems (my employer, the developer of PostScript) sells
a package called "TranScript" to drive PostScript printers from
UNIX systems.  TranScript contains output translation filters for
	- troff C/A/T files
	- ditroff intermeditate files
	- plot(5) files
	- Diablo 630 print files 
	- simple text files ("lineprinter listings")
	- Tektronix 4014 files

TranScript release 2.0 is compatible with both 4.2BSD and
System V Unix systems and contains spooler interfaces for the
4.2BSD lpr/lpd/printcap spooler and the System V lp/lpsched
spooler architectures.

TranScript supports serial communication with ALL announced
PostScript printers:
	Apple LaserWriter
	QMS PS-800, 1200, and 2400
	Dataproducts LZR-2660 and 2665
	Linotype Linotronic 100 and 300

Several other systems running under Unix produce PostScript
print files (which may be spooled and printed with TranScript);
among them:
	Scribe (from Unilogic)
	Two filters for TeX DVI files:
	- one from Textset of Ann Arbor
	- one public domain implementation
	  (contact the Unix-TeX people at Washington)
	A driver for the S statistics package was posted to 
	the net some time ago.
