I need to be able to type kanji as well as kana (I don't know whether I need katakana or hiragana or both, but if it handles kanji it will probably hit the right one). It would be preferable if the languages could be mixed, so that I could have (for example) Japanese on one side and English on the other. I'm in the pleasant position of not having the hardware specified yet: it will be determined largely by what existing capabilities are available -- primarily this 2-language capability -- so please don't feel limited to recommending IBM PC or Mac packages.
