One minor caveat about MicroTeX is that the documentation notes that it requires 512K of memory, and means it. On an AT w/ 512K I can't run it if I have any drivers or memory-resident utilities loaded. Since I normally load ANSI.SYS, that means that to run TeX I must move CONFIG.SYS and reboot; most annoying. Solution: if you want to use the PC for anything besides TeX, get MORE THAN 512K memory.
