Now that the media's less fixated with "The Women of Rock & Roll",
I'd like to recommend a few that I've recently discovered, but
didn't hear mentioned nearly as much as Madonna (gag-me), Cyndy
Lauper, Pat Benatar, and Tina Turner.

   The Tom Tom Club
   Romeo Void
   Missing Persons
   The Eurythmics
   The Pointer Sisters

These differ from the women mentioned by the press in that they're
groups with female lead singers, not solo artists, but they're
definitely worth "checking out".  The first three are a little
less well known, which is why I wanted to post this.
Any other obscure favorites ("newies-but-goodies") ?
