Perkins My additions to 4.2bsd client telnet to support 3270 emulation include a limited form of terminal type subnegotiation. Unfortunately, since only servers on IBM mainframes currently invite terminal type subnegotiation, my code takes that as a hint that it should reply with the name of some sort of 3270. If you are uninterested in IBM mainframes, you could change that code to return the value of $TERM. Paul G.
