Quite a while ago there was a discussion on net.auto about the availability
of surplus army jeeps that could be bought from the government for $40 or
so.  No, I did not miss a zero :-) ...  I called various government offices
and was eventually forwarded to the Army Disposal Something-or-other, who
told me that they had to destroy such vehicles because they were considered
unsafe on the highway.  Could someone tell me where I can get these cheap
jeeps?  Any information would be appreciated.  In fact, I would appreciate
information on any cheap transportation like this (within reason please!).
