If you read the introduction to the book you will note that the first story "Bitter End", appeared originally as a Tecumseh Fox story (another detective written by Stout). The other two stories are rewrites of previously published stories but with different endings. "Frame up for Murder" was originally "Murder is no Joke" and "Assault on a Brownstone" was originally "Counterfeit for Murder". Personally, I liked "Assault on a Brownstone" better than "Counterfeit for Murder". It gives much more credence to Wolfe's hatred of the FBI and other governmental agencies. A worthy edition to my Nero Wolfe library. -- Saul Jaffe Systems Programmer Rutgers University ARPA: Jaffe@Rutgers UUCP: ...{harvard,seismo,ut-sally,ihnp4!packard}!topaz!jaffe
