Hello,

I just started playing chess and was wondering if there are any books
that people could suggest that illustrate strategy and general chess
techniques to the rank novice.  To give you an idea of how much of a
novice I am - I have stale-mated the Sun2 ``chesstool'' program once and
lost about 10-15 times.

The book should be clear and without too much notation (I don't know
chess notation yet).  A paperback edition would be helpful also.
