It is worst from 5 to 8 MHz, and is bothersome from about 2 to 14 MHz. It is intermittent, but seems to be around 80% of the time. I walked around my neighborhood with a receiver today and discovered that it extends at least 4 or 5 houses in each direction on the street. The noise level varied as I walked down the street. If placed my radio against a street light pole (we have underground power here), the noise was much stronger. I would like to make this noise go away. Can I expect any help from the power company or the FCC in tracking it down? Any ideas would be appreciated. Howard Katseff AT&T Bell Labs, Holmdel uucp: ...!ihnp4!vax135!hpk ARPA: vax135!hpk@berkeley
