That's a good test of a piece of gear! It's ultimately simple to use and has lots of goodies including the built in keyer. My only criticism is that since it's a fully synthesized rig, you can't tune "smoothly" across a signal, you go instead in 100 Hz steps. I suppose this is the wave of the future in ham rigs, but it gives a whole new meaning to VFOs! At least Yaesu still provides a "steering wheel" to move frequency instead of up-down keys as are found on most broadcast FM receivers these days.
