Through ISO participated the national standards institutes like ANSI. Either ANSI X3.41 or the associated ISO standard defines the sequences to designate alternate character sets (I do not know which from memory; but probably both): DG0 ESC ( s Designate G0 to G3 DG1 ESC ) s s is from the table below.
