 This is the adventure that Woody Allen had (hope I'm remembering it right):

     "My clock broke recently and for a while I the only way I
  could find out what time it was was to call and listen to the
  recording.  Doing that several times a day got to be a drag
  after a while.  So one day I listened to the recording all day
  and wrote down all the times and now I just look it up."
