Alas, Poor Liver.

   There were scores of us packed in the subway car,  and I was 
making a decent effort to appear as though I couldn't hear a word 
of the conversation between two elderly ladies standing in front 
of me, closer than if the three of us had been dancing.
     One of them gave a long account of the demise of her 
friend's husband.
     "But, Jenny, what was it he died of?" asked the other.
     "It was neurosis," said Jenny.
     "Neurosis?" asked the other.
     "Yeah, neurosis of the liver."
