The one point that you may want to consider is this: Introduce your older child to a regular bed BEFORE the new baby arrives, and treat it as a "promotion" from being a baby to a big girl, or something similar. What you want to avoid is any appearance4 of the older child being kicked out of the crib to make room for the new arrival.
