I happen to know of a friendly entity, called the Wizard.  S/he has
no gender, at any given time, and *loves* mail from young people.
S/he exists merely for a living, and, of course, for mail.  If the
name Wizard sounds too ominous, don't fear.  The Wizard is
not a computer wizard, but a kid's wizard.

Also, there are some grammar-school kids in town (San Diego, that
is) who are interested in talking via computer with other kids in 
the U.S. 

The Wizard can be reached at sdcsvax!sdcc6!ir1000 on arpa.  Just say 
Hi Wizard and s/he'll write back.
The other kids are at sdcsvax!sdcc11!ps14.   Address the messages to
Esteban Diaz.
