Motorola did start out by calling them things 32-bit, until they ran into a lot of derisive comments. I still remember a flyer that claimed this, AND the flak flyer. Of course they have learned the error of their ways.... but the damage has been done. And half-baked(!!!!!) implementations are not the most beautiful of things to work with.
