The active window is the one with the clearly legible title bar (the other windows have "ghosted" title bars). If the wrong window is active, just click the left mouse button while the mouse is within the window you want to activate. Typists may prefer to use the combination ALT-LeftAmiga, which is the keyboard equivalent of pressing the left mouse button.
