We have never seen an 800XL that didn't have the RAM socketed, and that is the most important thing for the 256K upgrade. Did the 800XL you returned not have the RAM socketed? We have been shipping the 256KXL for a couple of weeks now and no problems have been noted. It makes the 800XL look exactly like a 130XE except that bits 5 and 6 of $D301 have been redefined to address twice as much memory. I have also souped up a version of OMNIVIEW XL to treat this extra memory as a double sided single density ramdisk. David Young -------
