I am using an old IBM-PC, commonly referred to as the PC-1 with new bios chip and a fully populated AST 6PACK +. Ever so often, the system just hangs up with the message PARITY CHECK 2 on the left top corner of the screen. It seems to occur at random intervals, about once every half hour of use. I have tried all the IBM diagnostics and consulted local support. To no avail. The only thing I can think of, related to something I read in the Dr. DOBBS JOURNAL (Nov. Issue) about faulty DMA chips in some of the machines (also present in AT&T 6300 ) Any help in resolving this would be appreciated. Thanks Rajiv {allegra|seismo}!rochester!ur-tut!dewa
