So you may want to respond by email to avoiding boring > everyone else. You're not doing something dumb; it just doesn't work. My ITT DOS (MS-DOS 2.11) manual says that the CONFIG.SYS line SHELL=path sets up COMSPEC and loads COMMAND.COM initially from the named path. Bull. Even if I define it as \COMMAND.COM I get the ``Please insert COMMAND.COM disk'' message. Anyone know a fix? BTW has anyone figured out why when I patched my COMMAND.COM to have a larger environment it stopped reading AUTOEXEC.BAT? --Brandon -- Lord Charteris (thurb) ncoast!allbery@Case.CSNet (ncoast!allbery%Case.CSNet@CSNet-Relay.ARPA) ..decvax!cwruecmp!ncoast!allbery (..ncoast!tdi2!root for business) 6615 Center St., Mentor, OH 44060 (I moved) --Phone: +01 216 974 9210 CIS 74106,1032 -- MCI MAIL BALLBERY (WARNING: I am only a part-time denizen...)
