How many times have you called someone and their secretary answered and asked, "May I ask who's calling?" or "May I tell him who's calling?" Now I almost instinctively answer, "You sure may," and wait. Most of the time, the poor secretary doesn't know what to say, and there are a few moments of awkward silence.
