I apologize in advance if I'm wrong. May all the "sites out there" sleep well tonight! "Akgua" installed the line-eater bug fix when the source code first arrived at this site in Sept. of 1983 (we were running "A" news before that). In the intervening two years we have conscientiously checked our spool area whenever a "line-eater" report appeared, and not once did the fault appear to originate at this site. So rather than add to the traffic on the net each time by bragging how "pure" we were, I merely would reply directly to the originator of the message. Besides, when you constantly brag about how good you are, *lots* more folks start keeping a sharp eye on all that you do in an attempt to "catch" you. This way, I just let the "akgua" reputation filter its way around the net by the quiet, competent, and serene manner in which it conducts itself. This can be seen by the comment of the original poster: > From: jhc@mtung.UUCP (Jonathan Clark) > ... (I think we can exclude Mr. Spafford's and Mr > Cleveland's sites from suspicion). So I shall assume that Mr. Joe Buck is relatively new to the net and wasn't aware of this site's *sterling* reputation. Since he apologized in advance, he is obviously a person of good character and intelligence. He should have a bright future on the net.
