Probably installing news.  News 2.10.2 comes with this handy shell script
that initializes all of your newsgroups.  Unfortunately, it (1) initializes
the newsgroups which came with your distribution, and if your sources are
a year old...  (2) it generates newgrp messages and uux's them out.
Fortunately, when I installed news here, I caught these messages and killed
them in the uucp directory.

Maybe a future version of netnews will be easier to install without annoying
people.
