Before people start creating net.os, let's consider a few things:

1) There is definitely volume on the net scattered over a bunch
of newsgroups all dealing with OS matters.  Thus, a (set of)
OS groups makes sense.

2) The topic has been discussed a few times already in the last few months.
Most people expressing an opinion liked the idea, but the last time an
actual "vote" was collected (by Dave Mason, I think), the numbers
were very low of people in favor.  We've seen a few scattered
postedd "me toos" recently, but that is hardly a ~50 approval level.

3) Some very good points have been in favor of making the group a
moderated group rather than a net.group.  I think Dave Mason
volunteered to moderate such a group when he gets (got?) settled at his
new account.  Dave, are you reading this?  Still interested?  If so,
there is certainly enough interest to support a mod.os -- and having
the group moderated would probably raise the level of postings and
prevent everything from being cross posted to net.unix and net.arch.

In summary, if there are people willing to moderate a "mod.os" or
"mod.opsys" then let's discuss starting that on a trial basis.
Otherwise, someone volunteer to take a MAILED vote on a SINGLE net.os
group.
