San Diego, Academic Computer Center Lines: 48 [ take this, bug! -==- ] (untitled) ---------- We'll pause in the doorway to this room; maybe we'll look in, maybe not, knowing that inside lies something we would rather we forgot to love or speak of pillows and small things like flowers wilting petals onto her sheet, and broken dishes unattended to; but never mind now, she's asleep. 12/2/85 Coming Around the Bend ---------------------- Dogbird on the path, smear into granite: Heart like cherry-stones I've plucked and swallowed whole, and pretty girls dropping dresses in wheatfields whose pureness I've sometimes known. Not watching where you step or fly, the icy rain can catch you by mistake. It won't drag long at your fragile leaves, love, before you clatter under life's rake. Two tall pines in the wet sun draw white life- lines onto the corners of your hand. Turn around your sovereign locket for the dogbird, girl.
