One of the programs in the "Great River Journeys" series now playing
on a PBS station near you (I believe it's the first one) features an
attempt to descend the Waghi (sp?) River in New Guinea; the outfitter is
Sobek (Richard Bangs & Co.) who are also known for their 1979 attempt to
raft the Indus in Pakistan. ("Outside", July 1985)  The first half of the
show is interesting in its own way, but it's those class VI monsters that
really make for some great footage...
