Now for my query: Lewis EPPSTEIN was born circa 1871 in Bromberg, Germany (now some city in Poland). Supposedly his father was a Rabbi. He came to New Zealand as a pressman in the boot trade (does that mean shoes or something else?) and married May Mabel HART. I don't expect any of you out there to have anything on this, and I can deal with the New Zealand part on my own. My question is, what do I do about Poland? Do I have any chance of finding official government or church (temple) documents? -- David Eppstein, eppstein@cs.columbia.edu, seismo!columbia!cs!eppstein (note that the garfield in my headers is *not* the one in the UUCP map)
