In the US, many Stake Centers run a genealogical research library. Look in the white pages under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Genealogical Branch Library. You'll probably have to call at different hours on different days before you reach someone -- hours vary. Most library patrons are *not* LDS Church members.
