Well, it's actually the "swap meet" at the Pearl City Drive-In Theatre next to the Pearl Ridge Shopping Center, and it's on Saturdays and Sundays only. Just down the street from where I live, incidentally. Otherwise ... > Everything in downtown Oahu is touristee and priced high. Go to > the shopping malls for better prices. Especially true if by "downtown" you meant Waikiki. Stay away from stores primarily visited by tourists and you'll definitely save money (and end up with fewer "authentic Hawaiian souvenirs" that you don't notice until you get home actually have a tag which says "made in Taiwan"). > Places not to Go: Stay out of the Chinatwon area at night (local working > girls and porno shops). Do not go on the leeward coast (local slum area > for Hawaii and the locals do not like tourists). Sad, but true. Frankly, if you're planning a trip to the Hawaiian Islands, I'd recommend spending most of your time on the "neighbor" islands (Kauai, Maui, Hawaii) rather than Oahu.
