David > responds, "Tell that to the writers." > You don't hear meta-comments in TV shows much these days.. > > Steven In addition to that one, there were two other rather subtle allusions... 1) Near the beginnning of the show, I forget the exact dialogue but it was somewhere around the time when Maddie was telling Dave to get his hands off her behind, Dave mentions something about having to keep it clean or they'll have to go to cable. 2) After Maddie has been called to the police station (the first time) and she's on her way out the door, Dave is pestering her with several off the wall comments. She ignores him, as usual, and he says some- thing like "Give me a break, I'm running out of material." I don't recall the specifics of either of these, but someone with a VCR can easily check me on them. All in all, a very amusing line of humor. "Women can't live with 'em...
