                      Abstract
   Knowledge-based   expert   systems   are    AI
   problem-solving  programs  requiring intensive
   computation. Their slow  execution  speed  has
   prohibited their use in domains requiring real
   time response.  The need for faster  execution
   has  led  to  research  in  using  VASTOR as a
   hardware accelerator. In  this  seminar,  both
   the  VASTOR  and  GAPP  system  by NCR will be
   presented.
