( not a simple "laser-printer" but it does have a laser in it. :-) )

i just got a L300P with Postscript-RIP ( BTW what does "RIP" mean? )
but without a CRT front end. after many phone calls i find out that
the "only" way to start up a L300 is from a CRT front end. the L300
seems to be a dumb box with a cpu & ram but little rom. it looks for
some programs and commands to be sent to it via a 19.2KB tty type
line. does anybody know just what is sent to the L300 to wake it up?
and what hand shakeing might be required?
