Unless >they have changed I would look at QMS. I thought I would offer another opinion on Imagen. We have had the Imagen/300 for about a year now and have experienced good service from the machine. We will have to buy another this year to keep up with the number of jobs and to serve as a backup for the first (we are addicted to the laser now). I would prefer to purchase another Imagen because of our experience with that brand, but I'm beginning to have second thoughts for the "support" reason. This is obviously Imagen's weakest point. We have found that they are only proficient answering simple questions about the hardware and tend to stumble on software support, especially with System V. We have had quite a time getting all the interfaces to work correctly with System V and Imagen has been of little help, though they did respond. We don't have anyone on our staff experienced with the troff software and though the Labs has an entire package for this machine they have not been able to provide us with it supposedly because of CI I/II. As for maintenance questions, Imagen has been willing and able to help us with little problems, though we have never had to request warranty parts replacement. This begins to concern me with future purchases. As you can see we have been on our own, and yet have managed to obtain reasonably good service from the machine. Is their another manufacturer that does provide good support and has a good product? I would like to hear opinions on this.
