We are thinking of purchasing a graphics processor for our flight simulator. So far I have looked at the IRIS 2000, Chromatics CX1280, Sun III, and Lexidata 90. We have a VAX 11/780 running BRL UNIX (4.2 BSD) as our host and two Conrac 7211 13 inch monitors for cockpit avionics (we are not simulating the view). For our purpose, the Sun seemed like overkill since it is a full computer. We really need something that can be programmed mostly from the VAX with the graphics processor handling transformations. If you have any suggestions on other products or comments on the ones I've seen, I would appreciate the advise. If someone else has compiled a comparison of graphics devices, pleae let me know. I would also like to distribute to my students, current articles on fractals. Van Zandt I'm implementing the Core graphics routines involving world coordinate transformations (see Computer Graphics v 13 n 3 p II-68 (Aug 79)). The description looks ambiguous to me. I know the matrix is supposed to specify an affine transformation, but is it supposed to left-multiply a column vector, or right-multiply a row vector? - Jim Van Zandt ------------------------------ End of INFO-GRAPHICS ********************
