Now, I know that many of you deal with graphics that make the gigi look like a toy, but I'm a college student and I can't afford an Iris. We know that Issco's Tellagraf/Disspla supports them, and that there are a number of things in the DECUS catalog for gigi's, but we'd like to avoid the service charges if we can. Thanks. In other words, it's a guess.) ----- ------------------------------ Date: 19 Dec 1985 12:52:56 EST (Thursday) From: Bill Morgart Subject: Information Request Status: R We are trying to find a graphics software package for the Sun workstation. We need to do relatively simple engineering graphics (X-Y plots and surface plots). There seem to be a number of systems that can do this plus a large number of other more sophisticated (and expensive) functions such as solids modeling with multiple light sources and multi- colored shadows. Since we don't need the more sophisticated functions, we would like to avoid paying for them. We would like to find out what is available before we try to write our own package since we would certainly be re-inventing this wheel. Ideally, we would like to be able to preview the plots on the screen (we have the Sun high-resolution B&W monitor and a AED 512 Colorware color monitor) and then print the plot on our Imagen printer. If anyone knows of such a system or has any suggestions, we would appreciate hearing from you. Please reply to me directly since I am not on the INFO-GRAPHICS mailing list.
