I wonder if the recent discussion about calling party identification as a readily available phone feature actually stems from an ad I once saw. O now forget the name on the ad, but it was from someone who claimed to be selling a gadget that you could attach to your phone and would tell you who was calling. >From the context of the ad, it was pretty clearly a joke.
