Why do we need another light?  Who came up with this one?  Seeing some
of the third brake lights it reminds me of a police car.  Maybe this is
the reason for reducing rear-enders.  If people see something like a
"cherry top" their brains would alert them to not hitting a police car.
As the initial effect of this light wears off we may be stuck with
another additional cost for our cars.
