Lines: 8 My '66 Chevy Malibu makes a weird, whining, screechy sound when I put on the brakes while backing up. Sometimes it is much louder than other times, but I can discern no particular pattern. It makes a similar, but not identical, screech (more like a loud, annoyed, chirp) when I turn the steering wheel all the way in either direction. The brakes seem to work fine (I got the fronts replaced 2 months ago). The car runs just fine; the screech seems to be harmless, if annoying. Could it be symptomatic of something I should be worried about? (BTW, the car has about 79000 miles on it.)
