	Two solutions spring to mind:-

1)	Develop enough coordination to carry a bike without banging 
into walls, this could help your life expectancy on the street too.

2)	Use wheel covers for the trips up and down the stairs, just 
avoid the type with treads.

	Since I don't know what "red grab ons" are I can't help with 
that one, maybe you should just take 'em off (probably not illegal in 
the privacy of one's own home)
