Bloom County yesterday was a fine example of metahumor.  The first
three panels introduced a new plot line (Bill the Cat sending compromising
pictures of Jean Kirkpatrick to the Russians).  The last one described
this as a literary technique of forshadowing--which you would not find
in strips like Nancy, but which is used in the finer strips--like this
one.
