Yeah, but in the only family I know where everyone knew everyone, it worked out very well. The child is now in her mid-20s and NOT searching for mythical parents. And I saw many, many cases of children raised informally but totally by relatives without any legal hassles for anyone. Like everything, it just depends on the folks.
