ADC, who manufactures this modem, is in fact a subsidiary of BSR, but ADC makes and markets the more 'esoteric' and audiophile quality equipment than does it's parent, BSR. In audio circles, it has a respected reputation. I think all concerned could buy this particular modem with at least as much confidence as a purchase of the Volksmodem you mentioned, since it is manufactured by a well respected electronics company.
