It is a 1200 baud half-card modem, that BIZCOMP claims will work with ANY communications software currently out there for the IBM PC/XT or AT. Of course I haven't tried it with ALL, but I have tried it with a few, and it works perfectly. It comes with its own software, of course, which is OK -- but cannot emulate any terminals. (A built-in requirement for my job.) However, it is a remarkable peice of hardware, and the company was quite friendly and easy to work with. It was $219.00, but if you don't need a short slot, they have the Intellimodem ST for $199.00. (Same thing, just built for a long slot.) One of its neater features, is that it accurately interprets signals 1/3 the power level required by Hayes. (Receive sensitivity: -50 dBm.) What this means, is that all you MCI and SPRINT subscribers out there no longer have to worry about loss of trasmission...this was a problem I experienced with the Hayes Smartmodem II.) Just a plug for a good product, nothing more... -- --- Rob DeMillo Madison Academic Computer Center ...seismo!uwvax!uwmacc!demillo "...I suppose you find the concept of a robot with an artificial leg amusing?" -- Marvin, the Paranoid Android
