The ST uses up to 6 27256 eproms.  
The adress space for the EPROMS is 96k words on the ST so you
need 6 27256 to give you the full amount (3 sets of 32k x 16)

The 27256 eprom is organized as a 32k X 8 bit memory.
There fore you need 2 27256 to give you 32k words.
If you look inside the ST you will see six sockets
with roms in the first and third socket.  
Also you can use 2 27128 or 2 2764 to give you 16k or 8k words
of memory.
