You got steps 1 and 2, but you missed step 3. Also, your Driver should respons to control calls #5 and #6, where #5 is a "Verify" command (just returning noErr is sufficient if you have no need for a verify) and #6 is a "Format" command (again, returning noErr is sufficient).
