The Mac is not what I call, advanced enough, to be the last machine ever worth writting code for. I think your the one who needs the growing up! There are many reasons for writting portable code. Even if you plan to only use it on one machine. You never know what the future may hod especially when dealing with technology. Portablilty does not necessaryily mean lower performance either.
