Lines: 43 I need some help from you experts out in netland. I have just purchased a 20Meg fixed disk for my IBM PC. The installation was simple and I have had no problems. I would like to partition the disk in atleast three parts and each part would be a DOS partition and would be access as a separate disk drive. For example drive C: would be the first partition, drive D: the second, and drive E: the last partition. Secondly, I would like to change the cluster size from 4K to 2K. My problem is that I am using PC-DOS 3.1 and I can not find a way of convincing DOS that I have more than one hard disk. In other words the FDISK option 5 is not available to me. I do know that this is possible when using MS-DOS 2.X, because it comes with a utility that allows you to partition your disk and the ASSIGN command allows you to assign a drive letter to a disk partition (PC-DOS version doesnot). I can use the partition utility with 3.1, however, the MS-DOS ASSIGN is incompatible with PC-DOS 3.1 and the 3.1 ASSIGN is limited in it use. As to my need to change cluster size from 4K to 2K, my problem is simply that of needing a clear procedure. My system configuration is: IBM-PC (1) Floppy drive (1) 20Meg Hard disk (Seagate ST225) with disk SMS/OMTI controller Mother board with 256K AST 6-Pack with 384K I would like to recieve mail on any constructive help you can give. I will post to the net a summary if there is any interest.
