This will collapse the Mexican economy and probably take a few major American banks along with it. We cannot afford for this to happen. Mexico needs good income from oil to be able to make its payments. I propose the following solution: GET RID OF THE 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT! It was never a good idea to continue it after the oil crisis in the first place; now it is a very BAD idea, because it causes us to conserve energy. We need to put into place some energy-WASTING programs, and very quickly! Otherwise our conservation will drive oil prices down to the critical level. So we need to impose a different 55 MPH limit; make it the LOWER limit! And require all new cars to guzzle gas again; we could phase this in by putting a tax on small cars which get more than 13 MPG on the highway. Ahh! I can't wait for the return of the 455 cu. in. V8! I can now ride around in my Behemoth Electra 225 with the sound conviction that I am doing something for the world economy. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Kirby ( ...!ihnp4!akgub!cylixd!dave)
