I was record shopping the other day, and noticed that Robin Gibb (from a group called the "Bee-Gees", who--I'm told--had a few hits in their day :-) ) had a new album out on Capital records. This means that, as a solo artist, Mr. Gibb has been associated with four labels in as many albums: Atlantic --> Polydor --> Mirage --> Capital (these are label affiliations in the U.S.). This set me to thinking about what other artists have been associated with many labels in the U.S. A couple came immediately to mind: Sparks: Bearsville, Island, Columbia, Electra, RCA, Atlantic Genesis: London, ABC/Impulse/MCA, Charisma, Buddah (Charisma reissues), Polydor (Charisma reissues), Atco/Atlantic What artists can you come up with who have had numerous label affiliations? (ignoring artists strictly on local/minor labels, and not counting incidental label changes more than once, e.g. ABC --> MCA. Only consider U.S. label affiliations. On a totally different note: In the latest issue of "Rolling Stone", I read an ad for a new Elvis Costello "best-of" video collection--22 videos, hi-fi sound, $19.95 list price. Has anyone seen/heard this tape & if so, is it worth it? If the audio tracks are taken from the masters, this seems like it could be a better deal than the compact disk (if you have a hi-fi video tape player). David ("Dr. DAP") Pearlman
